We stayed at the Juniper Hotel which is a cozy little hotel surrounded with gorgeous mountain views located 5 minutes outside of Banff. The smell of spruce trees and a wood burning fire filled the hotel lobby as we arrived and lingered throughout the whole evening. We ate a delicious three course meal prepared by the wonderful staff and shard some Christmas cheer before heading off to bed early for some much needed sleep! I know… sounds uneventful. Quite frankly it was. But I enjoyed the rest and was happy to wake up and enjoy a lazy morning that started with a delicious breakfast and ended with a crisp minus seventeen walk around Banff before heading home. Banff was decorated nicely for the Christmas season with children skating on the outdoor rink and lovely carols playing in all the shops. This little get away was just what my Christmas spirit needed.
Another highlight from this weekend was the Mexican fiesta we had with our neighbors Jordan and Michelle. We had been planning on getting together before Christmas and Saturday was the perfect opportunity. We drank margaritas, ate fresh guacamole and salsa and I successfully made my first Brie Bake with special spicy flavors (stay tuned for the recipe). It was hoot and not your “traditional” Christmas get together. I highly recommend this if you are looking for way to celebrate but don’t want to go out on the town. We had a lot of laughs playing Quelf ( a great gift idea for the board game lover on your list) and realized that Michelle is unstoppable at Crazy Eights! What a fun night…
A few other highlights from the weekend were brunch with Tyler’s extended family on Sunday and a visit from my Dad as well!! Jam packed family fun with more yummy food and great memories. This is both mine and Tyler’s last week of work before Christmas and I am finally in the holiday mood… stay tuned as I have very exciting news coming your way!
