After thinking about my post yesterday and about what inspires me (you) to succeed, I wanted to take the time to offer some inspiration to those of you who are out there and ready to call it quits or perhaps have just hit a wall with your resolutions.
First off, just stop…
Take a deep breath and think about what is going on in your life at this moment. If you are feeling turmoil or stress then take the time to find the source of what is ailing you, fix it or let it go. If it is something that has been dragging you down since 2002…maybe its just not something you need in your life anymore.
Decide what changes you want to make. I like using lists or visuals to help me achieve the changes that I want to make. Hence the future inspirational board that is soon to be appearing in my new home…but you can use whatever method you like.
Set Goals. Remember that nothing happens overnight…”Rome wasn’t built in a day”… and all that jazz. Make sure that the goals that you are setting are realistic. Setting unrealistic goals only sets you up for failure…and I don’t like that word. Set long-term and short-term goals making sure that your short-term goals set you up for success and help you achieve your long-term plan.
Be Patient. It’s taken you your whole life to get here. You are ready to make significant changes in your life and if you stick with them you will see results.
Don’t give up. Plan and simple. No Matter what!
Practice makes perfect. The more you do something the better you will be. If you love to run but are still working on building up stamina or if you are looking at just starting out I recommend you check out Couch to 5 km.
If you want to try yoga but have never done it before…dont let that stop you. There are plenty of online yoga classes that you can do right in your own living room Check them out here and here…Or get your butt into a studio.
There are a lot of classes out there that are structured for beginners and also lots of great introductory prices for first time visitors. Check online for a studio near you…
Lastly, Give yourself a break…especially if you are just starting. It’s ok to have an off day and its okay to indulge in the things you love ONCE IN A WHILE. Try to give yourself little rewards such as a piece of chocolate or a guilt free night out with the girls (or guys) after a hard week of pushing yourself. You deserve it! Just don’t get carried away and make sure that you get right back on track.
What are you waiting for? Its time to start investing in yourself…make the commitment and go for it! I’ll keep you updated on how I’m doing and feel free to do the same.
