How to Turn 5km into 10km…

You keep putting one foot in front of the other, walk when you have to, push through your limits, tell your brain to shut up and just keep going. I decided that enough was enough and if the weather is not going to cooperate then I am just going to have to run in the cold…

Great friends, Great food

This weekend along with going on our first date in our year of dates ( you can read more about that here…) we also had our first housewarming party! Our condo is about 900 sq feet and so we decided that instead of throwing one big party that would be uncomfortable and crowded in a smaller space we would host several “mini” house-warmings for our family and friends. To get the part(ies) started we decided to invite two other couples over for dinner and drinks with the possibility of hitting 17th ave after. We live in a really trendy area in Calgary just off 17th ave SW nicknamed “The Red Mile” that is filled with pubs, restaurants and plenty of nightlife so it makes it easy to head out for a few drinks on a Saturday night.

Vancouver and my first 5 km this year

I should elaborate on my trip to Vancouver this past weekend. It was a short trip over the Rocky Mountain border that separates Alberta and British Columbia for a work conference on Safety. It was a relief to get out of Calgary for a few days and breathe the fresh coastal air. The weather was superb with temperatures in the high teens and spring was in full force with the tulips and cherry blossoms all in bloom. My co-worker and I stayed at the Hyatt Regency hotel in downtown Vancouver. Great location, walking distance to Gastown, Cardero’s Restaurant, and Robson Street (all very trendy places to check out if you are planning on visiting Vancouver).

Two Provinces, One weekend~!

Friday, first thing after work, we jumped in our vehicle and headed out to Banff. Great weekend on the hill with some great friends. The conditions and weather were good which made for a wonderful day of riding…

First World Problems…

I have just been looking at my calendar and the days seem to be filling up so quickly! We have so many wonderful things to look forward to this year including two weddings, camping, hiking, golfing, a week in Edmonton to relax with friends and family, as well as time with our friends out in Invermere. I’ll have to remind myself to slow down and enjoy all these moments because I have a sneaking suspicion it’ll be October before I know it…

Being a follower

Lately the overwhelming amount of support that trenaeverafter has been receiving has made me reach out into the blog community and start following many other blogs. I have made it my goal to find at LEAST three new blogs a week (although I always find way more) to start following.

Pure yoga bliss

Last week, I was really struggling with getting my butt to yoga. I was tired, cranky and well, just plain being lazy. I did manage however to pull myself off the couch, throw on my yoga clothes and drag myself to the studio. It was an off balanced practice for me and of course I let myself get the better of myself and began to lose focus about half way through the class. I managed to pull it together to finish off with some strong poses but by that time I was just ready for Shavasana. I lied down feeling disappointed in myself about not having a strong practice. We were told that we were in for a surprise during our final resting pose when all of sudden the sound of an acoustic guitar started to fill the room and a beautiful voice starts singing “All You Need is Love” followed by “Imagine”.

Keeping up with 2013~!

I am in utter shock that it is April 11th today! I can’t even say where the past two months have gone because they have been an absolute rollercoaster, merry-go-round whirlwind! Just to give you an update from some of my previous posts…I went back and re-read somethings (the joys of having a blog) and realized that I may have left you hanging a bit.

blog love

When I started this blog seven months ago I had no idea what to expect and no idea what “blogging” actually was. I figured this would be something that I would do for a short time until the next thing came along. Little did I know what a community of support and information existed in the blogging world and how much I would be inspired to write.
