5,000 Thank-yous!

I just hit over 5,000 views on this little production right here!

Wow!

This means so much to me. When I started blogging I had no expectations and no idea what I was really getting myself into. But through a lot of trial and error (and some four letter words), I have managed my way and feel so blessed and loved by all of you readers. I am slowly but surely going to get more of a grasp on the technical side of blogging as I am sure there are things that I can majorly improve on. I am also going to start focusing the content more as I feel like it’s a bit scattered at the moment.

Sometimes that’s just how life goes

Looking forward to connecting with some more of you! Have a wonderful day wherever you are in the world.

Another year old(er)

Here I am into my 29th year ( I will be turning 29 for the next 10 years FYI!) and I can honestly say that the older I get the more fun and exciting life seems to be. Although I had hoped to spend my 29th birthday in Vegas, I can honestly say that this was the next best thing and one of the best birthday parties I have ever had! Continue reading

Mum’s the Word

And… I’m back.

Sorry to have left you all hanging for a few weeks but it’s just that time of year for me. Life has sort of taken over and I really just needed a break. Now, where were we…

Blogger Break

I can honestly say that the past week has flown by…it seems as the year goes on that I continue to get busier and busier! What have I been up to?? Well, last weekend we were in Cochrane on Friday night visiting some friends of ours. They have just moved into a brand new house and invited us out for the night. Tyler ended up staying out there for the weekend to hang out with the boys and on Saturday I was off to Edmonton for my wonderful friends bachelorette party. Sunday was of course Mother’s day and I had a nice visit with Tyler’s parents and also stopped in to see some good friends and their kids. I left Edmonton feeling exhausted and yearning to be teleported back to Calgary (of course that didn’t happen and I was forced to drive).

I suppose that keeping busy is really sort of healing mechanism for me this time of year. It’s hard to deal with mom being gone on a normal day much less on Mother’s day but to top it all off, I received some more heart-breaking news. My Paternal Grandfather (not by blood) had passed away. Grandpa Walter was 89 and had lived the most wonderful life a man could live; married to my Grandma Betty for 63 years, they raised three beautiful daughters (and my dad), watched all of us grand kids grow up and start families of our own and even did a bit of travelling before his final resting days. Grandpa, we will always carry your warm smile, loving heart and gracious spirit with us wherever we go.

My apologies for the lack of posts lately but I just needed a break. I needed to clear my thoughts and take the time to celebrate my mom in her own right and also celebrate Grandpa Walter.

This week has been one of catching up, cleaning up and carrying on.

Heaven holds the pieces of my Heart, taken on the day Grandpa Walter passed.

The long weekend is here (already??… how did that happen?) I’m looking forward to relaxing and spending time with family and friends and getting a fresh start for next week. I hope that you also find some time to enjoy yourselves, rain, shine or dare I say SNOW!? We do live in Alberta after all…

Dreaming of you…

Today I feel unsettled and sad. This year marks 5 years that my Mother has been gone and with Mothers day right around the corner it’s always a tough time of year for me. After she passed away, I used to wonder if I would ever dream about her. Years went by and I never did. Until one night she was there…

Patio Party!

It looks as thought Spring may be here after all. This past weekend we hit record high temperatures that brought smiles to many people’s faces~ Its amazing how the warmer weather seems to lift everyone’s spirits and bring pure happiness and enjoyment to many activities. Enjoying a cold beverage on a patio, walking a dog, going for a run, wearing shorts, sandals and sunglasses; everywhere I went there were people out and about, all smiling and loving life!

We decided that we would also take full advantage of the gorgeous weather and went out and bought ourselves some patio furniture for our balcony.  There has been a lot of debate on which set we were going to purchase as our balcony is very long but isn’t very wide. We went with 6 piece set; circular table, four chairs with cushions and an umbrella. Part of our balcony is covered so I don’t think that we will actually use the umbrella but it may come in handy for the part that is uncovered…

Since Tyler was busy studying for an exam he has coming up, I thought I would surprise him and get the furniture all set up so we could enjoy Sunday evening outside. (Quite a job for one woman!) I had help hauling the boxes up two flights of stairs before I was left on my own to construct the four chairs and table.

Here’s how it turned out…

Where will you be in ten years?

Last night was watching a re-run of the Oprah show about people who had either been on the show or in some way had interacted with Oprah in 2002. She was highlighting where those people are now…ten (eleven) years later.

Which got me thinking…
