When I started TrenaEverAfter, my expectations were nothing more than for me to have a creative outlet to share my scatterbrained emotions with whoever would read them. At the time I expected that would merely be a few close friends, Tyler and maybe the odd person stopping by from WordPress.
If you would have asked me 15 months ago what my biggest fear was in life… I probably would’ve answered failing. If you would have asked me where my life was going 15 months ago… I would have said nowhere. If you would have asked me how I was feeling 15 months ago… I would … Continue reading
It looks as thought Spring may be here after all. This past weekend we hit record high temperatures that brought smiles to many people’s faces~ Its amazing how the warmer weather seems to lift everyone’s spirits and bring pure happiness and enjoyment to many activities. Enjoying a cold beverage on a patio, walking a dog, going for a run, wearing shorts, sandals and sunglasses; everywhere I went there were people out and about, all smiling and loving life!
We decided that we would also take full advantage of the gorgeous weather and went out and bought ourselves some patio furniture for our balcony. There has been a lot of debate on which set we were going to purchase as our balcony is very long but isn’t very wide. We went with 6 piece set; circular table, four chairs with cushions and an umbrella. Part of our balcony is covered so I don’t think that we will actually use the umbrella but it may come in handy for the part that is uncovered…
Since Tyler was busy studying for an exam he has coming up, I thought I would surprise him and get the furniture all set up so we could enjoy Sunday evening outside. (Quite a job for one woman!) I had help hauling the boxes up two flights of stairs before I was left on my own to construct the four chairs and table.
Here’s how it turned out…
Perfect weekend accomplishment!
Looking forward to spending some warm summer nights out here…stay tuned
for the first BBQ of the year and my DIY flower pots~
How did you spend your weekend???
At the start of this year I made a bucket list. One of the things that I put on the list was to become a vegetarian or adopt a more vegetarian way of eating. Initially this was something that I thought I would try for a few weeks, get bored with and move on from. I also thought that there would be a huge lack in the variety of things I could eat and the other impossibility that crossed my mind, was how on earth was I ever going to get Tyler to eat this way!?!?!
We are now on day ten of The Plan…see more about that here… and I would say we are eating 85% vegetarian.
I know that you have probably been wondering where all my delicious kitchen delights have disappeared to and that you are all probably thinking that I just gave up on cooking completely. On the contrary I have actually been cooking up a storm these past couple of weeks.
Tyler and I started “The Plan” which is a book about how the foods you are eating are causing inflammation within your body. The focus is on an anti inflammatory diet and eating foods that your body uses in a positive way. At first I was skeptical about how the diet works and if/how it could possibly work to decrease inflammation. I myself have suffered with internal digestive problems for years and after reading this book and following the meal plan (We are on Day Seven today) have noticed how much better my digestion has been. Tyler, who suffers from acid reflux and also has Rheumatoid Arthritis ( which is a systemic inflammatory disorder) hasn’t had one bit of reflux this week nor any flare ups from his arthritis.
This was such a great day!
I had a lot of people give me some pretty funny looks and a few people who were curious as to what I was wearing on my head…to which I kindly responded with the information about Toupee for a day.
Congrats to the Kinette Club of Calgary for raising $510.00 as a team
and for everyone who helped support this amazing event you helped raise
Our first weekend in our new home!
We have unpacked almost all of the boxes and reorganized things mmmm I’d say about 50 times…okay, maybe not quite that many times, but it sure feels like it! All unpacking aside, we did find some time this weekend to put our feet up to relax and enjoy being at home.
On Saturday, along with a lovely bouquet Pink Asiatic Lillies, I was greeted with homemade cinnamon french toast with fresh strawberries and maple syrrup…this was a wonderful and delicious surprise! These lillies are my favorite! They smell so delicious every time I walk by them I get into a Spring mood. Tyler always buys them with only one in bloom so that they last longer and I am always greeted by one or two more that bloom everyday.
It’s hard to believe that 2013 snuck up on me as quickly as it did! I guess I was just having too much fun saying good-bye to 2012, a year of many challenges and hardships that I’ve realized it’s actually nine days into the New Year…wowza! Many of you have maybe started thinking about resolutions and all things that you are going to QUIT, GIVE UP, RELINQUISH and ABANDON. All those things in your life just you just don’t care about anymore that are weighing you down. You may have even ran out and purchased a shiny new gym membership, committing and promising yourself that this is YOUR YEAR TO GET IN SHAPE.
If I would have known how easy it is to cook spaghetti squash I would have started making it years ago! Seriously, this was probably one of the easiest and most delicious things I have ever tasted.
