When I started TrenaEverAfter, my expectations were nothing more than for me to have a creative outlet to share my scatterbrained emotions with whoever would read them. At the time I expected that would merely be a few close friends, Tyler and maybe the odd person stopping by from WordPress.
I truly cannot believe that the last weekend of summer 2013 has come and gone. Kids are back to school today, the days are getting shorter and the chilly mornings of Autumn are among us. I must say that I did not plan on being away from the blog for all of August but when summer calls one must be ready to answer.
Here I am into my 29th year ( I will be turning 29 for the next 10 years FYI!) and I can honestly say that the older I get the more fun and exciting life seems to be. Although I had hoped to spend my 29th birthday in Vegas, I can honestly say that this was the next best thing and one of the best birthday parties I have ever had! Continue reading
I can honestly say that the past week has flown by…it seems as the year goes on that I continue to get busier and busier! What have I been up to?? Well, last weekend we were in Cochrane on Friday night visiting some friends of ours. They have just moved into a brand new house and invited us out for the night. Tyler ended up staying out there for the weekend to hang out with the boys and on Saturday I was off to Edmonton for my wonderful friends bachelorette party. Sunday was of course Mother’s day and I had a nice visit with Tyler’s parents and also stopped in to see some good friends and their kids. I left Edmonton feeling exhausted and yearning to be teleported back to Calgary (of course that didn’t happen and I was forced to drive).
I suppose that keeping busy is really sort of healing mechanism for me this time of year. It’s hard to deal with mom being gone on a normal day much less on Mother’s day but to top it all off, I received some more heart-breaking news. My Paternal Grandfather (not by blood) had passed away. Grandpa Walter was 89 and had lived the most wonderful life a man could live; married to my Grandma Betty for 63 years, they raised three beautiful daughters (and my dad), watched all of us grand kids grow up and start families of our own and even did a bit of travelling before his final resting days. Grandpa, we will always carry your warm smile, loving heart and gracious spirit with us wherever we go.
My apologies for the lack of posts lately but I just needed a break. I needed to clear my thoughts and take the time to celebrate my mom in her own right and also celebrate Grandpa Walter.
This week has been one of catching up, cleaning up and carrying on.
The long weekend is here (already??… how did that happen?) I’m looking forward to relaxing and spending time with family and friends and getting a fresh start for next week. I hope that you also find some time to enjoy yourselves, rain, shine or dare I say SNOW!? We do live in Alberta after all…
Last night was watching a re-run of the Oprah show about people who had either been on the show or in some way had interacted with Oprah in 2002. She was highlighting where those people are now…ten (eleven) years later.
Which got me thinking…
After yesterdays beautiful +15 degree (celsius) day, I had high hopes of putting the winter blues behind me and moving forward towards planting flowers, wearing rain boots, and getting back on the running trails permanently. However, Mother Nature always seems to have other plans when it comes to Alberta weather and we have a saying that always holds true
” If you don’t like the weather in Alberta, wait 5 minutes”
Tyler and I had a wonderful first day of fall. We are very fortunate to live in Mission which is an area in Calgary by the Elbow River. There are plenty of pathways for walking, running and biking, as well as many close amenitites on Fourth street. We are very lucky! On our early morning stroll we decided that we would head up to Purple Perk for some morning goodness before hitting the paths in Lindsay Park.
